SHOULD I DONATE TO Australian War Memorial ANZAC Foundation?
Australian War Memorial ANZAC Foundation are a legally registered charity with deductible gift recipient status. They are clear about how and by whom they are run, and about how they spend their money. Australian War Memorial ANZAC Foundation also show they are likely to be effective. They distribute all proceeds to Australian War Memorial, who are clear about their strategy, show how it is monitored and demonstrate that they systematically evaluate the success of strategy delivery.
However, we need to see more from the Australian War Memorial in order to recommend the foundation with confidence. To increase our trust in them, we need to have a better understanding of how donations are collected, both from the foundation and from other sources, and how those donations are used. We’d also like to see more on how they manage conflicts of interest. To better understand their effectiveness and to have confidence in their reported results, we need to see complete evaluation reports, including the data collection methodology.
After assessing both their strengths and weaknesses, my overall recommendation for Australian War Memorial ANZAC Foundation is neutral. They demonstrate they are probably trustworthy and effective, but I need further assurances before being able to recommend them with confidence. In order to improve my confidence with Australian War Memorial ANZAC Foundation, I would like to see:
more on how the Australian War Memorial collects and uses donations, both from the foundation and from other sources;
a conflict of interest policy; and
evaluation reports that outline the data collection methodology.
