WHO ARE Australian Wildlife Conservancy?

Australian Wildlife Conservancy conserve Australia’s wildlife, particularly threatened species and ecosystems, by acquiring land and establishing sanctuaries, and implementing practical land management.

WHY DO THEY EXIST?

Australian Wildlife Conservancy was established because “Australia has the worst mammal extinction rate in the world and a very high proportion of our surviving animals and plants (over 1,700 species) are listed as threatened with extinction.”

WHAT DO THEY DO?

 They undertake the following activities:

  • establishing wildlife sanctuaries, both through the acquisition of land and through the development of partnerships with other landholders;

  • implementing on-ground conservation programs including translocations of threatened wildlife, feral animal control, weed control and fire management;

  • conducting scientific research addressing the key threats to Australia’s wildlife; and

  • carrying out of public education and visitor programs designed to enhance awareness of conservation issues.
