Who are Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR)?
Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal “champion the economic and social strength of Australia’s rural, regional and remote communities”. They do this by facilitating partnerships with the private sector, philanthropy and governments.
Why do they exist?
They have a vision for “vibrant, sustainable and adaptive communities across rural, regional and remote Australia.” They “believe that local people are best-placed to know what is going to work best in their communities, so we focus on helping communities address local opportunities and challenges.”
What do they do?
They work across the following themes:
Grantmaking - providing funding, and occasionally in-kind resources, to help community groups undertake the projects they determine are important to local success.
Enabling – building local capacity in leadership and governance of non-for-profits, as well as providing support for community foundations as they get off the ground and become sustainable.
Influencing - using their knowledge and understanding of rural, regional and remote issues, and networks to increase awareness of those issues and drive change.

It is clear who is in charge. Roles are described and performance is monitored. Finally, they have policies in place to prevent the misuse of funds.
We also believe that FRRR is a highly effective charity. They consistently show that they are working to deliver on their mission. They present a strategic plan which has a clear logical model. Their strategic goals are consistent across documents. The activities that they have delivered and results from the last financial year demonstrate progress against this plan.
