WHO ARE Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR)?

Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal “champion the economic and social strength of Australia’s rural, regional and remote communities”. They do this by facilitating partnerships with the private sector, philanthropy and governments.

WHY DO THEY EXIST?

They have a vision for “vibrant, sustainable and adaptive communities across rural, regional and remote Australia.”

They seek to “fill gaps and ensure that communities do not miss out because their voice is muted against the understandable noise of major cities.”

WHAT DO THEY DO?

 They undertake the following activities:

  • Grantmaking - providing funding, and occasionally in-kind resources, to help community groups undertake the projects they determine are important to local success.

  • Capacity building – building local capacity in leadership and governance of non-for-profits, as well as providing support for community foundations as they get off the ground and become sustainable.

  • Advocacy - increasing awareness of issues and driving change that delivers maximum benefit.

They also show they are trustworthy; they are transparent with their finances and describe their board and executive team in detail.
