Should I donate to RMHC Trust?
Do not donate.
RMHC Trust do not demonstrate basic indicators of trustworthiness or effectiveness. We cannot verify that donations are used to deliver on their mission.
We cannot verify that RMHC Trust is trustworthy. While they present their audited financial report and show how funds are distributed to grant recipients, they do not present a range of important indicators of trustworthiness. First of all, they do not report how/if the board monitors the performance and operations of the charity. This oversight is necessary to ensure funds are used for their purpose. Adding to that, we identified unexplained inconsistencies between the financial figures reported to the charity regulator, the ACNC, and what is presented in their financial report. Finally, we could not find Related Party Transactions or Key Management Personnel Remuneration published in their last financial report. These figures are important to, again, ensure that funds are used for their purpose.
We cannot verify that RMHC Trust is effective. There is insufficient information to know if they delivered on their mission in the last financial year. We note that RMHC publish a “Annual Impact Report” and that this reports the number of people assisted. However, we were unable to find an overarching strategic plan guiding the direction of the charity. We also were unable to find evidence that RMHC evaluate the quality or effectiveness of the services provided.
In order to recommend RMHC Trust, we suggest they:
outline how the board provides effective oversight to the charity
provide an explanation for inconsistencies between financial data published with the ACNC and what is reported in their Financial Report
disclose Related Party Transactions and Key Management Personnel Compensation
publish their strategic plan, and
present evaluations of the grants and the extent to which they fulfill RMHC’s mission.
