Should I donate to Legacy Australia?
Do not donate.
Legacy Australia do not demonstrate basic indicators of trustworthiness. While they present their financial statements in detail and describe how they are governed, we cannot verify where donated funds go. We were unable to find an overview of how key management personnel are remunerated or the individuals/positions that make up the executive team. In addition, we were unable to verifiy the ABN that online donations are directed towards. These attributes are essential to have certainty that donations are used for their intended purpose.
On a more positive note, we found that Legacy Australia demonstrate various signs of effectiveness. It is clear what they do and the benefit they deliver. They present overarching goals and highlight the activities they undertake. They present results from the last financial year. Finally, they indicate that they are undertaking a review of the organisation.
However, in order to recommend Legacy Australia, we suggest they:
clearly state the ABN for where online donations are directed to on their donate page
describe the individuals/positions that make up the executive team
disclose the remuneration paid to key management personnel.
