Should I donate to Anglicare Australia?
Anglicare Australia are a legally registered charity with deductible gift recipient status. They clearly describe their mission, their strategy, the programs they are undertaking and the results of their programs.
However, Anglicare Australia need to take further steps in order for us to have confidence that they are trustworthy. It is currently unclear how the Council govern the organisation, and if they provide oversight to ensure funds are used for their purpose. It is also unclear what the experience of key management personnel is, and therefore if it is relevant to the organisation. Anglicare Australia do not describe how key management personnel are remunerated, or how their performance is evaluated. Finally, and critically, Anglicare Australia’s financial report does not disclose how much they receive in donations, and how donations are treated once received.
Although Anglicare Australia demonstrate signs of effectiveness, they do not demonstrate a basic level of trustworthiness necessary for us to be able to suggest donating to them. It is for this reason we give a ‘do not donate’ recommendation.
